Ann-Riitta (Oulu) and her father Jorma made it known to the Registry that all Montins of Finland are descended from the same ancestor, a notary called Matti Falkiapaa who lived in Turku from 1630 to 1697. For a reason which we do not know, he decided to change his name to Montin. According to Anne (Luxembourg), there may not have been a change of name, "Falkiapaa" may have just been a nickname. The mystery about the origin of the name would then still be complete.

All Montins living in Finland are invited to contact Ann-Riitta or Anne with details about members of their branch. A number of families living in Sweden are descended from the Finnish branch, but there are also Montins there that report being of French descent.

Among noted deeds of Finnish Montins, Anne reminds us of the story of Carl Johan:

Carl Johan 1854- Carl Johan fait partie de l' histoire de la plus grande mine du cuivre en Finlande. En effet, il était le chef des travaux du chantier du chemin de fer, quand un ses ouvriers a trouvé une pierre lourde, extraordinaire. Carl Johan l'envoyait à Helsinki avec sa lettre d'accompagnement. Les experts ont trouver tant de minerai dans cet échantillon, qu'ils ont fait intensifié les recherches qui ont abouti à l'ouverture d'une mine. Cette histoire (avec la photo de Carl Johan) se trouve dans le livre "L'histoire d' Outokumpu".
